Dear Bill:
\JI am sorry that I was not able to attend your party last Saturday, but
I had a previous engagement with a water softner. The water softener won.
I had to replumb our house to get both hard and soft water in the kitchen.
Needless to say it will not be one of my more enjoyable memories.
In our last conversation you mentioned the possibility of teaching again.
I am still interested if the opportunity still exists. I have been working
on an automatic programming system lately, modifying the LISP notes,
and meta-writing the
last chapters of the book. I have a reasonably complete description of a
language half way between LISP and EL1 which I currently call "structured
LISP" (did I hear trumpets?). It practices what LISP preaches, has clean
syntax and semantics, and has an efficient model for implementation.
Unfortunately, the margin of this letter is too small to contain the
details.
So if you want me to practice my LISP perversions, let me know.
\.
